The mounting pressure to reduce the environmental impact of energy production has resulted in the accelerated erosion and corrosion of critical boiler and vessel components. Many plant components were not originally designed to withstand the harsher operating environments caused by lower quality feed stocks and more stringent operating regulations.

Aquilex can reduce costs associated with erosion and corrosion by applying a thin protective layer of alloy material to boiler and vessel walls and components. This can be done in situ or in our shops.

Similarly, the requirement of new components to replace corroded ones has had historically lengthy lead times due to limited material or fabrication capacity. Aquilex solutions can save you time by applying alloy to existing components or performing fast-turnaround component fabrication ready for service with erosion and corrosion protection already applied. Depending on your application, Aquilex can help you choose the most appropriate alloy for your specific operating environment.

For example, our Tenth Generation (GenTen System®) weld overlay system requires less operator input, provides higher reliability and productivity, and assures quality of overlay. It is uniquely able to operate in unusual configurations, such as overhead or on elliptical or cone-shaped components.

Field Applications

Aquilex performs the large majority of overlay work in the field. With our advanced equipment systems and trained and experienced field forces, we mobilize to the worksite in response to planned or emergent needs.

Aquilex’s overlay equipment inventory and available field labor pool are among the largest in the world. Generally, the amount of area and the client’s available schedule dictate the number of pieces of overlay equipment that will be necessary to complete the work in the allotted time.

Shop Applications

Aquilex WSI’s patented Unifuse® weld overlay process provides ease of bending and fabrication after overlay, eliminating the high maintenance costs of conventional protection methods. Only Aquilex can apply Unifuse to tubes and pipes for ultimate protection and the longest service life.
